Real Madrid are interested in signing Jude Bellingham’s England teammate following impressive performances at Euro 2024.

Real Madrid are aiming to compete for the signing of Marc Guehi, despite interest from several prominent Premier League clubs.

Despite advancing to the quarterfinals with a victory over Slovakia in extra time on Sunday, England has not managed to impress during the 2024 European Championships.

The team’s primary issues have been in attack, with Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane being the only players to score for the Three Lions in their four matches so far.

However, England’s defense has shown strength, keeping two clean sheets and conceding only two goals in the tournament.

At the heart of their defensive solidity has been Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, who has reportedly attracted interest from both Real Madrid and Arsenal.

Guehi has played every minute of the Euros for Gareth Southgate’s squad and has arguably been their standout performer.

His performances have caught the attention of top clubs in Europe, with Spanish champions Real Madrid reportedly leading the race to sign the 23-year-old defender and reunite him with his England teammate Bellingham.

According to The Sun, Barcelona, Juventus, and London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also contemplating a move for the center-back.

However, finalizing a deal may prove challenging, as Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has expressed his desire to retain Guehi at the club this summer. In a statement back in May, Glasner remarked, “I’m always optimistic because all these players are under contract with Crystal Palace. It’s May, and many things can change. Nothing is certain, but he [Guehi] is a good player, he’s our captain, so I’m confident he will remain with Crystal Palace.”

Guehi’s current contract with Crystal Palace is scheduled to run until the end of the 2025/26 season. He joined Palace from Chelsea for £18 million in 2021.

He has been a crucial player for Palace, featuring in 111 matches for the club across all competitions.

During the 2023/24 season, Guehi made 29 appearances, often taking the role of captain in place of club captain Joel Ward, who was frequently on the bench.

Guehi earned his senior England debut in March 2022 and has since accumulated 15 appearances for his country, including all four matches of Euro 2024.

However, he will miss England’s upcoming quarterfinal against Switzerland due to a one-game suspension resulting from receiving two yellow cards during the tournament.
