Wembley Stadium is getting ready for the Champions League final showdown between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund by making necessary arrangements and enhancements.

The Football Association (FA) of England announced a £5 million investment in enhancing safety measures and infrastructure at Wembley Stadium to prevent a recurrence of violence witnessed during the Euro 2020 final. Ahead of hosting the UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, an independent review highlighted over 20 “near-misses” during the Euro 2020 final, prompting significant safety improvements. Trouble was also reported at venues for the 2022 and 2023 Champions League finals in Paris and Istanbul. To ensure safety, officials promised a rigorous digital ticketing and safety checks plan.
Chris Bryant, the FA’s director of tournaments and events, emphasized efforts to ensure a smooth arrival process and positive experience for fans attending the Champions League final. Lessons learned from previous events were applied, including increased stewarding deployment, strengthened stadium doors, and extended entry times for fans. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, measures were implemented to address stewarding shortages experienced during the Euro 2020 final. The FA is confident in the effectiveness of these measures to mitigate potential safety risks and provide a secure environment for spectators at the Champions League final.
