The anticipated move of Mbappe to Real Madrid on a free transfer after his contract ends with PSG has been a topic of discussion. Although there have been previous expectations of his transfer to Madrid that didn’t materialize, leading to his stay at PSG, there’s a possibility that Madrid might consider Haaland if Mbappe’s move falls through in 2024.


Haaland, currently in his second year at Manchester City, is unlikely to have a long-term stay at the Etihad. His agent, Rafaela Pimenta, revealed Haaland’s aspiration to join Real Madrid, citing the club’s unique allure for players. Pimenta highlighted the absence of league competition but emphasized Real Madrid’s strong presence in the Champions League.


Haaland’s contract reportedly includes a release clause of €200 million, set to activate in the summer of 2024, exclusively applicable to non-Premier League clubs. Additionally, it’s suggested that this clause diminishes annually once activated, with a subsequent clause of €175 million slated for 2025, further decreasing in 2026.


Recent news from Real Madrid confirmed Carlo Ancelotti’s contract extension as their manager until 2026.


If these developments unfold similarly, Real Madrid might pivot to Haaland in case Mbappe’s transfer doesn’t happen as expected.
