Spanish press reports have emphasized the stability of Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez as a future successor to current coach Carlo Ancelotti. According to Spanish journalist Mario Cortegana, Pérez is working to persuade Frenchman Zinedine Zidane to return to Real Madrid and take over as coach following Ancelotti’s departure.

Mario Cortegana stated that Pérez plans to ask Zinedine Zidane to wait until 2026 before returning to coach Real Madrid. Cortegana noted that Zidane has turned down numerous coaching offers from top European clubs, including Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Cortegana, Zidane’s reluctance to take on a club role since leaving Real Madrid is due to his ambition to eventually coach the French national team. Zidane stepped down from his role at Real Madrid in 2021 and has been absent from football since then.

It is important to note that Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave his position as Real Madrid coach at the end of the 2026 season, upon the completion of his contract with the club.
